I jumped right back in during spare time throughout the day today. I started with riveting the aileron stiffeners to the skins. Back-riveting works fairly nicely here and that's really easy to do so it was mostly painless to set these 224 rivets!

After the stiffeners were riveted, I moved right along to bending the skins. Here you can see one not-fully-bent skin with the stiffeners and priming visible, and the other has been fully bent to final shape and the spar is clecoed in place.

I summarily bent the other skin and then created the doubler pieces that go on the front of the spar. I thought that Van's had precut these pieces but I couldn't find them for the life of me. In the plans it says you make them from scrap so I did just that. I cut out the pieces on the bandsaw and cleaned up the edges. With those cut out, it was time to match-drill them to the spar and then enlarge some of those holes to #12 for bolts. As I was searching for the powder-coated brackets, I found the pre-cut doubler pieces...oh well.

I got both aileron spars up to this point and called it a day.
